Trailheads in Dubois, Wyoming

Dubois offers an abundance of trails in the Shoshone National Forest and its wilderness areas.

East Fork Trailhead – Washakie Wilderness

11 mi. east of town. Turn left at sign "Trial Lawyer's College (Rd 277). Follow East Fork Road to the Forest Service Boundary.

Bear Creek Trailhead – Washakie Wilderness

11 mi. east of town. Turn left at sign "Trial Lawyer's College. Follow East Fork Road for about 15 mi. Take Road 501 to the left which leads to Bear Creek Trailhead. 4-wheel drive is recommended for Rd. 501.

New Glacier Trailhead – Fitzpatrick Wilderness (Wind Rivers)

3.5 miles east of town. Turn right at Road 411 and turn left instantly after the turnoff. Follow this road to the end.

Double Cabin Trailhead – Washakie Wilderness

In town turn into Horse Creek Road. Follow this road to the end (app. 30 mi.). Turn right where the fork is. 4-wheel drive is recommended.

Parque Creek Trailhead – Washakie Wilderness

In town turn into Horse Creek Road. Follow this road to the fork and turn right. After about ¾ mi. turn to the left. (Rd. 507). It is recommended to start from here.

Moon Lake Trailhead – Fitzpatrick Wilderness (Wind Rivers)

10 mi. west of town, turn to the left into Union Pass Road. Follow this road all the way uphill. After the cattle guard once you have reached the top, turn right. (Rd 531). This is a very rough road and requires 4-wheel drive. Follow this road for about 2 mi. There is no trailhead sign, you just can't get any further with your vehicle.

Dunoir Trailhead – Washakie Wilderness and Teton Wilderness

App. 15 mi. west of town, turn to the right (Rd. 513). Follow this road until it is barred.

Brooks Lake Trailhead – Teton Wilderness and Washakie Wilderness

App. 25 mi. west of town, turn to the right into Brooks Lake Road (Rd. 515). Stay on this road, it will lead you to the trailhead just before Brooks Lake Lodge.

 

Please contact the National Forest Ranger District in Dubois, WY before you get on the trail. Make sure the trails are still maintained, that you have the most current maps and information. You will be in grizzly bear areas, please follow the applicable rules for your safety.
