Hi! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jim Lundahl and I have been involved in renting horses for over 30 years at Sweetwater (Ideal Beach) in Bear Lake, Utah, and Beaver Creek Lodge in Logan Canyon, Utah (www.beavercreeklodge.com). During this time, I have met horsemen who don't want to rent a horse, they want to ride their own. They don't want a guide, they want to come and go as they like and stay as long as they like. I must admit, I feel the same way. I have always thought that if the right facility, in the right place could be found, where horse owners could bring their own horses and not be required to have a guide, it would be successful. The place had to be on a river with good pastures and in close proximity to national forest and wilderness areas. It would have to have great fishing, opportunities to view wildlife, and remarkable riding trails. After a long search, I found such a property. It is the old headquarters of the Walt Disney ranch, west of Dubois, Wyoming, along the banks of the Wind River (www.duboiswyoming.org). The Dubois area is surrounded by national forest and BLM land and is close to several wilderness areas with great opportunities for viewing wildlife.
